Jizera Mountain Field Research
We traveled to the Czech Technical Institute’s research station in the Jizera Mountains, a range that borders the Czech Republic and Poland. We collected a wide range of soil cores, which will be analyzed in the lab for bulk density, pH, hydraulic conductivity, and moisture content. Tension infiltrometers were deployed to measure unsaturated conductivity. We also performed ponded infiltration tests to measure saturated conductivity. From these data we will create retention curves and model fluid transport in the area of interest.
