We prepared our recently sampled soil cores for water retention and hydraulic conductivity analysis. A hanging column experiment was performed to analyze water retention in near-saturated conditions. A pressure chilled mirror hygrometer and sand infiltration tank were utilized to test for retention in unsaturated conditions. We were also familiarized with the unsaturated modeling programs Hydrus-1D and SD1, which will be used to predict fluid transport rates in the Jizera Mountains.
