This week we spent two days working at the University Center for Energy Efficient Buildings (UCEEB) near Kladno.  We were able to spend time with a few of our Czech colleagues and learn about their experiments in rain gardens and green roof sample plots (below).  We assisted them in weeding their experimental plots and taking samples of the growth medium for experiments.   On Thursday, we were given lectures on the Uhlirska catchment in the Jizera Mountains, where we will be doing some of our fieldwork, and on environmental isotopes. Friday was another free day. Alexa, Liz, and I left for Berlin Friday and Davida left for Dresden on Saturday.
